Summer is on its way (although you wouldn’t think it from the amount of rain we’ve had recently), so I thought this year I’ll try my hand at making some jam. Jam making always seemed a little bit of a ‘dark art’ to me at first, but after a little research and a couple of attempts, it seems that it’s not as hard as people may think.
There is definitely something very satisfying about Jam making. I’ve not put my finger on exactly what it is yet, but its there – a feeling of satisfaction, or accomplishment maybe?
I’ve only made a few different jams so far, and only one batch of each – Strawberry, Raspberry, and Cherry. The jars don’t look particularly inspiring yet as I’m focusing on the method and the result, as opposed to the presentation. There’s no point dressing the jars up, if the jam inside is not right…
So, this is a little taster of what I’ll be getting up to over the next few weeks. Hopefully I can do it justice, and we’ll have some lovely Jam to see us through summer.
